Although I wasn't able to attend, Sharon Hayes spoke this past weekend in Baltimore for "Constitution Day" at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Colby's alma mater. She was also born in Charm City!
Her work explores the construction of sex and gender, and how language informs and shapes political activism. . . Her complicated video and sound installations also annoy the FUCK out of a few hitherto unnamed "friends of Colby"-- a compliment that should make any artist smile.
Judith Butler eat your heart out!
