BLURRY SHABU SHABU

Colby loves to put exciting new things in his mouth.  This weekend I finally got to try shabu-shabu.  A Japanese version of a traditional Chinese hot pot, shabu-shabu starts with scalding hot water.

First Course: fresh veggies-- add to water, boil, dip in sauce.  Eat.

Second Course: meat-- add to water, boil, dip in sauce.  Eat.

Third Course: Noodle-- add to tasty boiling veggie-meat broth.  Eat.

So simple.  So delicious.  The boiling hot water even absorbs my tears of culinary joy.

  1. I wish we had a decent Japanese restaurant around here.

Is the nabe sitting on a recessed heating source in that table?

Or did they just bring you really hot water??
