I'm leaving today for Texas.  As many of you may already know, everything is bigger in Texas.  We even make big flaming postal-queens who wear their leather chaps on delivery.  Werk it.

Actually, this is one of several art deco friezes on the downtown post office in Philadelphia.  There is also one with an Eskimo.  The New Deal gave us a lot . . . including some bizarre stereotypes it would seem.

Jutdlime pivdluarit ukiortame pivdluaritlo!  ("Merry Christmas Yall" in Eskimo (Inupik))

  1. Have a safe trip to and from TX! I presume your trip will at least take you through H-town. If you haven't already been there, check out Teotihuacan for some truly wonderful authentic Mexican food. The location on Irvington is my favorite.

  2. I love that "y'all" does have an Inupik equivalent.
