FLICK U: VALERIE AND HER WEEK OF WONDER

Sometimes you watch a movie and feel stoned. . . even when you're not.  "Valerie and her Week of Wonder" is one of those movies.  Noted New Wave filmmaker Jaromil Jireš based "Valerie" on a book by Czech author Vítězslav Nezval, noted for combining Surrealism with socialist themes.  Menacing at moments, funny and bizarre at others, the film loosely acts as a parable on menstruation.  Throw in a vampire granny, a lecherous priest, incest, a pair of disappearing "pearl" earrings, and one lesbian orgy after the next and you have a truly bizarre film.  Leave your bong on the dresser drawer and settle in for some fun.

  1. Oh I'm so glad you've seen this!!! It's one of the most unusual and rewarding films I've ever seen. Whoever decided to rescue it from obscurity and put it on DVD deserves an award of some kind. Thanks for spreading the love for VALERIE!

  2. I was actually smoking a bowl while watching this trailer, needless to say I found it very satisfying. It kind of reminds of the scissor sisters video for invisible light. Which is, in it's own right brilliant.

  3. Interesting. Sort of reminds me of a film I saw called Pepperminta. I think you'd really like that, Colby! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGLoK_Qzgr8
