How do you commemorate 9/11 on a porn blog? What does pornography have to do with terror, or sensuality to do with suffering? ...desire and longing to do with war and destruction? ...fantasy to do with reality? with death? Our fence-modernist world is wholly intertwined at every node across the spectrum of human existence, a rich set of experiences, dark and bright, good and evil, right and wrong and we're navigating our way through it the best we can. That's why I figured George Rahme's collage work on topics ranging from romance novel studs and the wonders of our dying natural world, coupled with images of ripped steel and torn metal would be the best way to ponder the complexity of our image obsessed world on this day of reflection. Like a modern Hieronymus Bosch, Rahme's work entertains our wildest dreams and darkest nightmares. Take in the wonder of it all and big hugs from Big Shoe Diaries.

Rahme's exhibition, Riot of Life, is on display at the Fred Torres Gallery in NYC from September 8 - October 8, 2011.
