COLBY AS CONTROVERSY

If there is one thing we all enjoy more than sunshine and cupcakes, it's a little bit of controversy. . . and gossip.  To show my support for poz models who find it increasingly difficult to work in the larger gay porn world (and yes, to turn a well needed buck), I made a recent appearance on the scandal-prone site Treasure Island Media.  It's not my job to judge the political contours of other people's sexuality, only to try to engage (however briefly) your penis.  Even if you're overly paranoid about STD transmission like me, there are always ways to engage, from "safer" to "safest", with bodies and modalities of desire otherwise condemned to segregation.  I'm embarrassed to admit how my sometimes irrational degree of fear has shaped my own personal sex life.  To that end, I hope this video serves as a positive example to others and, though poorly crafted and radically insufficient, an apology to all those positive men I've refused the pleasure of engaging simply out of fear.

Not that this should necessarily matter to you, but I continue to maintain a healthy negative HIV status.  I plan to die eventually though.  Illness is an amoral project in my mind.  It comes to us all.  The vehicle of transmission shouldn't limit our show of compassion and love for human life, however defined by excess and exuberance or Calvinist self-control-- my personal, hereditary inclination.  Tie me up and milk me!  The same cameras Treasure Island trains on internal creampies didn't somehow magically infuse my handjob with the heebeejeebees.  And they won't infect your eyes either if you watch the video.  :-)

  1. You're so eloquent and thoughtful. There should be more quality human beings like you roaming around. I wish we could be friends in real life.

  2. I'm an equal opportunity masturbator, if the guys looks good (and they usually do) then I don't really give any thought to their status. whether I know their status or not, it doesn't stop my enjoyment.

that being said, I can't wait to see you get milked!

  3. The top is hot in this film, and so are you. You voice the same concerns about health and intimacy that I have over the past 18 years of sexual activity. Please stay safe, please stay sane and healthy and sweet and loveable as you are.

  4. Atta boy. Dismantle the fear by owning, sharing and exposing your own. That's how change can be made and have a lasting ripple effect. Mad respect pal. -Waiyde Palmer

  9. A very thoughtfully written explanation of your decision to appear in a TIM scene; not that your choice needed one in my opinion. Is that Morgan Black you are performing with? It would be great to see you do a BDSM scene with him at Bound Gods!

  10. "...infuse my handjob with the heebeejeebees" Way to backhandedly promote the further stigmatization of HIV positive people. So we are the Heebeejeebees now... got it. Thanks for clarifying that Colby.

  11. Actually, I think that was very sensitively put. It could have been the far more offensive "Hebrew-Jeebrews."

  12. Hey Colby, was reading about all the drama and thought to myself "why?" Are our lives so mundane that this is the big news it has become? Pathetic. I think the scene is awesome and it is time for gay men to grow up; porn is fantasy and doesn't condone or support anything other than fantasy....what we do in our personal lives is up to each of us.

  13. "Even if you're overly paranoid about STD transmission like me" - really, this from the same guy that trolls Adam4Adam looking for big bareback dick. I used to read your blog, but when you hit me a couple of weeks ago to give you my load BB I realized you are just a mockery of what you preach. At least the guys at Treasure Island Media are upfront about their shit.

  14. Colby K, one of my favorite porn stars. Don't be a hypocrite. If you decided to do a flick for the amazing T.I.M. you should have the guts to do it all the way.

  15. ha!!! love that comment about you on Adam4Adam. Since you already fuck bareback, you should go all way on screen.

  16. I use to think you were one of the hottest guy's I have ever seen, and when I actually started reading your blog and found you to not only be a smart man but preacher safe sex, you were that much sexier. But working with T.I.M. wtf... they are the opposite of safe sex, they glorify barebacking, being poz, and becoming poz. Even if you personally didn't bareback in you scene with them you are making money for a company that will continue to use said money to push barebacking. You want to make a point and work with poz models... fine, there are lots of other studios that use poz models.

Mason Wyler also use to preach safe sex, then slowing everything came out. You want to go down that path have fun, but I'm out. Not buying anymore of your DVD's, reading the blog, or supporting you in anyway. I might be part of the ever shrinking group of guys standing on the safe side in the bareback culture war we are in, but I won't give in.

Have fun Colby. I'll be very sad to hear when you officially start giving and taking loads on screen. And even sadder when you become poz.

  17. I posted a similar version of this comment on Manhunt Daily two days ago and am taking the liberty of directly addressing it to you here:

I think it's sad and disappointing that you would involve yourself in any way with Treasure Island Media and the sickly twisted culture it represents. It was TIM founder Paul Morris who infamously declared HIV-negativity to be "the new virginity," as if to suggest that seroconversion should be something to which one should aspire. One of TIM's latest films is named for and depicts intravenous drug use in the context of high-risk sex. There are innumerable discussion board posts on TIM's website that speak of the intentional transmission and contraction of HIV by TIM's followers. And there are significant medical risks associated with HIV-positive men fucking one another bareback, which is the very basis for most of the videos produced by TIM. It doesn't matter whether the specific act that you performed for TIM was or wasn't safe. What matters is that you would choose to associate yourself with such a depraved and despicable company.

Yet we're to believe that you made this choice as an expression of support for HIV-positive models and as a form of apology to those men whose company you have declined due to your own pozphobia. How very magnanimous of you to do this by allowing a poz guy to give you a handjob, an act that's virtually safe regardless of the statuses of those involved. (Yes, Mr. Sexpert, it's OK to allow someone who's poz to touch you.) If you were really serious about bridging the negative/positive divide, perhaps a more convincing approach would be for you to don a condom and safely fuck an openly poz model for a responsible, respectable and health-conscious studio.

I hope that the "well-needed buck" that motivated you to do this was worth sullying your reputation. In any case, count me among your lost fans.

  18. Oh dear. I used to think "Wow, hot AND smart..." No more. TIM is neither. Another lost fan.

  20. Always love the hunky gorgeous Colby K. Wish that since you join T.I.M. hope you will do some real porn that T.I.M. is known for.

  21. Oh, dear, oh dear. And a very large oh, dear at that. Colby, I saw the film and it was pretty good. Your scenes, indeed all the scenes in the film, were perfectly safe. Good job. You still have my support at any rate. And I will still look forward to your posts here.

  22. I actually wrote you privately on Facebook and asked you why you had chosen to work with a company that glorifies getting Poz... I'm glad to see I'm not the only disappointed fan... It's unfortunate, as I have always been thoroughly impressed with you. Till now.
