Along with the lemon-like etrog, palms are normally associated with the Jewish Feast of Booths (or Sukkot), and the Christian holiday of Palm Sunday when Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem on an ass.  Bystanders, likely in jest, laid palm fronds in his path while taunting "Hosannah in the highest!" (Hoshana in Hebrew, "God save us", a traditional exclamation on Hoshana Rabbah, the seventh day of Sukkot).

Thanks to BSD readers Mike and Bob and the warm weather state of Florida, we can now add Christmas to the multifascited religious associations of this exuberant tropical evergreen.  What a better way to celebrate a birthday than with a giant LED cumshot on the lawn.
