LAST MINUTE ROAD TRIP: HELLO SOUTH FLORIDA!!!

Do you like palmettos? We do. The boys from Big Shoe Diaries just finished a grueling 20 hour drive from the Northeast to South Florida. We had a few minutes to take some great photos that you'll be seeing in the next few days but the last minute "work" trip was a blur. But now we're here and want some recommendations. Any sights, sounds, smells to suggest between Hobe Sound and Miami???

  2. Colby,

If you are driving back north, you should stop in Winter Park, a suburb of Orlando, and visit The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. It is the single most important repository of the art of Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) anywhere in the world, and even has an extensive exhibit/replica of his New York country estate, Laurelton Hall. Ask for Donna Climenhage for the best guided tour of that particular portion of the museum. (Tell her that I sent you.) The address of the museum is 445 North Park Avenue, Winter Park, Florida, 32789.

    Enjoy!

  4. If you drive south a bit you can visit Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens (http://www.fairchildgarden.org/). Or drive west on 41 through the Everglades to Shark Valley. There is a great hiking trail with alligators sunning themselves nearby.
