Artist Michael Hilsman knows veins. It's a strange point of biological necessity, but a true one none the less, that the very physicality of our desire depends on veins. . . and the blood that pumps through them. I recently saw Hilsman's solo exhibition The Opposite of Love at the Louis B. James gallery in NYC. In addition to his vein-appreciation, Hilsman seems to have a keen affection for Boys with Beards. You might also be able to spot a penis or two in a couple of his paintings. How many can you find?
