PORN STAR TRIES TO LIKE ARTIST. . .AND IS REBUFFED.

1/11/2013 9:09 a.m.

hey colby,
how flattering you posted my work on your blog :)
your text is very charming and I'm glad I'm still on your mind, haha.
but I'd want you to delete that post, cause I don't see my work in the context of any sexual content.
art business can be a bitch and doesn't condone any ›slips‹.

thank you for your understanding.

best,

XXXXXXXX (artist name and post about his work politely removed)

  1. Life is art.

    Sex is Life.

    Ergo, Sex is Art...

  2. Apparently this person doesn't subscribe to the old adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity.

I hear that the art world is less of a bitch for people who know something about grammar and punctuation. That's the rumor, anyway.

  3. I suppose he only sees what Colby does on his journey to be sexual. Too bad really as I see him as a conveyor of multiple levels of the human experience. I guess I will never get the chance to appreciate the "artist" work as I will never know who he is since chooses to hide himself. Pity, oh well. Forward HO

  4. Poor Fellow. I bought a piece of Paul DeFlorian's work bc I saw it on your website.

Thank you for promoting artists and I hope future artists and featured guests realize the power your blog and it$ reach.

    Your pal in Chicago,

  6. I'd love to put my mosaics up here. The best way to make a name for yoursef is word of mouth and this guy just dismissed Colby Keller out of hand.Dammit, that's pissed me off...the pretentious twat.

  7. the "art business" could care less if someone's work appears on a sexual blog; half the gallery/magazine owners are big hookers and pornstar hounds. Being on your blog could only help. Everybody knows that. What a silly timid douche.

  8. Complete a-hole. Just because a person is a porn star (and a great one) does not mean he cannot have an opinion about whatever he wants including a person's art. If the pictures are openly available, they (within reason*) can be posted and an opinion presented. Plus, it is never a good idea to dissuade anyone from liking your art - it will dissuade others from liking it as well.

*If the work is being presented as part of critique, showing the work is allowed and quite legal.

  9. It's too bad everyone here is so far up Colby's ass that they can't see straight. This artist was not rude or an asshole, but was very polite in his request. ANY artist has the right to decide where he wants his art presented, as it's his own creation. That notion gets lost in this new age of blog culture and electronic copyright infringement. If he doesn't want his art to appear on a site that has sexual content and/or nudity, that's his prerogative and fully within his rights.

Perhaps Colby wouldn't appreciate a portrait of him (or his own art) being presented on the website of a conservative Christian group. Would it not be within Colby's full rights to ask for it to be removed?

Basically, all of you commenters who have decried this artist as an asshole need to get your head checked. Your obsession with Colby is clearly a bit blinding. (No offense, Colby, as I'm a fan myself.)
