BOOK BONER: THEK TOME

Can you think of a better way to celebrate the life of renown artists' artist Paul Thek* than with a mustache?  Thek is best known for his 60's counter-culture infused installations like "Tomb of the Artist" (also known as the "Dead Hippie").  As deep as I dig, the hippie inside me hasn't died yet.  Damn you kombucha!

If you didn't catch Thek's retrospective at the Whitney Museum of Art a few years back, you can see pictures of his early relationship with photographer Peter Hujar at the Leslie Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art on view until July 7th.  I managed to sneak into the opening this past weekend and recommend a visit.

A special erection commemoration to the generous BSD reader who recently gifted this magnificent  Thek tome.  I've been lusting after it for quite some time.  If you look hard enough you can see my enthusiasm showing.

*To confound and confuse Art World novices, the "h" is silent.
