GRILL ME

Believe it or not, I do have a heart (or something closely resembling a heart), as portraiture-provocatuer J.Bone clearly understands.  Just because I have a heart myself, doesn't mean I won't eat yours. . . or that of a baby lamb for instance, grilled to perfection by the remarkable talent at Bestia in LA.  

Please don't kill me Vegans!!!  I heart veggies too!  Especially really really big carrots.

BSD Reader Anne in Toronto sent me two immensely flattering portraits recently with a confession attached:

"I may have a little crush on you . . . I wish I was a handsome twenty-something gay man so that I'd have a minuscule chance of meeting you one day.  Alas, I'm not (sigh) - I'm trapped in a middle-aged straight Asian woman's body.  I do dream about getting a big, crushing hug from you though (you look like you'd give good hugs)."

All I can say Anne is that I'm touched, touched enough to-- yes-- crush you in return.  Hopefully I'll be in Toronto soon enough to make your hugs come true.

DEBRIEF AND DE-BRIS

Not only did BSD reader Chris return the clarion call and submit an actual drawing to this month's Dick Portrait Contest, he didn't stop there.  In addition to his piece "Brothers", Chris sent in four incredible portraits of moi: haplessly drinking an orange Fanta, getting a BJ from Johnny Rapid, stoically standing boner in hand, and subtly unbuttoning my dress-shirt sans pants.  

To top things off, in at least one portrait (above), Chris had the generous foresight to kindly restore my foreskin.  :-)

THE EVIL-UTION OF COLBY KELLER

Eliot describes the work (and my inclusion) below:

"E.V.O.L. is the eighth part to Marina and the Diamonds' promotion of her album/story of 'Electra Heart' and I used it as a vehicle to ultimately explain my own story of intimacy. I do find it quite an "evil" thing in the sense that having someone's affection can be a lot of power and manipulation. As for the choice of porn, it's the only exposure I had as kid/teenager as someone with no upbringing in gay culture. I find the concept of love, to make love, in porn, the best way to communicate love at face value. The particular video happen to be the least "porn" looking HD footage I could find, but I definitely like the blur between traditional means of intimacy and the evolution of porn. A recognizable face doesn't hurt when reaching out to a community either, especially using pop icons, I guess it becomes the icons of porn too."

HEART-ON

BSD reader Teo emailed me recently with words of encouragement and this flattering portrait that he made last year but was too shy to send at the time.

In his email, Teo remarks: "I'm a foreigners for you, and you also for me...but i want tell you this little think, not for judge you but for know about a man that is more of a body...i feel that you are really more of a penis."   

Since I LOVE Penises sooooo much, I take Teo's words as a great compliment.  Thank you Teo!  You're a penis too bud. . . A big, hard 10 inches.  The kind we all dream about.

ERIK HANSON DOES COLBY: PORN STAR PORTRAITURE DONE RIGHT

So many Colbys! So little time. . .

Visual artist, Erik Hanson and Colby Keller are becoming a bit of item, it seems, inasmuch as Hanson's SoHo studio is now filled with beautiful portraits of Mr. Big Shoe himself. I got to visit Erik in his studio this weekend to see the product of an earlier meeting when Colby sat for some photographs that served as the inspiration for some beautiful Colby portraits.  I have a couple favorites. After a recent post revealed to the world my best bed-head bouffant, BSD reader Jorge memorialized the moment in this colorful portrait.

WATERCOLOR WEDNESDAYS: SUNRISE, SUNSET

In response to artist Erik Hanson's marathon Colby portrait week, BSD reader Luis sent in this lovely watercolor.  While I'm almost certain my scrappy sunrise eyes are entirely computer generated, I count Luis's contribution as a fully-fledged watercolor.  What would hump day (and my love of purposeless consonance) be without you.
